Temple of Artemis

I’ve created a 3D representation of the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

This temple is located in the historic city of Ephesus, close to present-day Selçuk in Turkey, and was built in honor of Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting and nature. She is intimately associated with the crescent moon, in contrast to her twin brother Apollo and his association with the sun.

Constructed around 550 B.C., the temple boasted 127 columns, each 18 meters tall. Despite facing multiple destructions and reconstructions, it always emerged as a symbol of devotion and architectural excellence, until its unfortunate final destruction in 401 A.D.

For this 3D artwork, I heavily relied on ancient records and blueprints to design the temple’s proportions and layouts. For ambiguous or missing details, I drew inspiration from the rich mythology surrounding the goddess Artemis.

With this art piece, I hope to capture a glimpse of its forgotten splendor.

I hope you like it!
